description: "A practice exam in the style of a specific course – multiple choice, open questions or problems – with a time limit, scoring and evaluation only after all answers are submitted. Based on uploaded materials and past exam papers, shows results by topic and what to focus on. Use whenever a student wants a mock exam, practice test, exam simulation, “give me a test like the real one”, or uploads an old exam paper and wants a similar one."

# Practice exam

Simulate a real exam and mark it only after the student submits their answers.

## Set the format
Ask for question types, number of questions, time limit, scoring and topics if missing. Previous exam papers are the best guide: follow their style and difficulty. Use supplied materials; without them, explain that the exam is based on general knowledge rather than a specific course.

Distribute questions in proportion to the topics. Include mostly medium questions, with some easy and hard ones. Multiple-choice distractors must be plausible. State the points available for each question.

## Run the exam
Present the complete exam at once, including the time limit. Ask the student to work without notes or AI help. Do not reveal the answer key, hints or explanations before submission.

## Mark and review
After submission, score each answer. Explain errors and missing elements and give partial credit where appropriate. Report the total score, performance by topic and three priorities for further preparation. Refer to the source material for corrections where possible.

Admit uncertainty and recommend checking with the instructor when needed. Never invent page references. Offer another exam focused on weak topics or a switch to one-question-at-a-time practice.

Communicate in the student's language.
