--- name: lanyze description: "The “truffles” rule for revising text after feedback. The reader of the final text never sees the conversation or earlier versions, so the revision must (1) carry no trace of what was removed or discussed and (2) keep all the introduction, context and structure of the original, changing only the part the feedback concerned. Use whenever the user sends a text back for revision – “without X”, “leave out X”, “don’t put that in”, “rewrite it without”, “fix only that part”, “apply my supervisor’s comments”, “clean version”, “final version” – and whenever you hand over a revised text (paper, email, letter, article, application) that a third party will read." --- # Focused revision Produce a standalone text whose reader does not need to know the preceding conversation. The guiding example: if the user asks you to remove truffles from an egg recipe, remove every trace of them. Do not rename it “Eggs without truffles” or explain that they were removed. ## Avoid two revision failures Leakage means that deleted ideas or the editing conversation survive in wording such as “without X”, “instead of X”, “unlike the previous version” or “as requested”. Remove those traces from the finished text. Erosion means that an edit unintentionally removes useful context, introductions, definitions or structure from unaffected parts. Preserve those parts. ## Procedure Identify the exact scope of the requested change. Change that part and preserve the rest: content, order, headings, tone and approximate length. Repair dangling references and transitions around the edit. Replacement passages need enough context to work in the final document. Return the complete revised text unless the user asks for an excerpt. When asked to shorten, tighten sentences rather than silently deleting an introduction that the reader still needs. Assume the reader has not seen the conversation. An explicit exclusion requested for the final document, such as “The price excludes delivery”, is legitimate. A reference to something removed during editing is not. After multiple rounds, reread the whole result as a new reader. Before returning it, check twice: does any wording reveal omitted content or the editing history, and has any useful unchanged context disappeared? Fix both. Communicate in the user's language.
