How I Started Using AI

How to scale with AI when you have no other option – that was the title of the talk I gave earlier this year at Prague Castle as part of the Gecon 2025 conference.

You can watch the recording of the talk and download the slides here, and read my notes below…

Introduction

I was forty. I had years in marketing behind me, I had written a few books about SEO, and still a peculiar emptiness had a grip on me. Day after day I helped clients spend their money and grow their profits. And what about me? Where had the joy of making things gone? I decided to change it. I wanted the freedom to experiment, to make mistakes and to learn from them. So I bought myself a small, unremarkable online shop. Nothing grand, but exactly what I needed. My own playground.

The beginning and the first obstacles

Enthusiasm is a wonderful thing, but reality tends to be harsh. I quickly discovered that working with artificial intelligence was no walk in the park. It was expensive, complicated and mostly reserved for the big players. And me? Just one person with a small online shop.

Then came 2020. While the world was fighting a pandemic, technology quietly went its own way. AI started becoming accessible. Tools that had belonged to corporations opened up to a wider public. And I felt that as an opportunity.

The turning point

Easter 2022. I remember it clearly. I switched on my first AI-driven automated processes and suddenly the whole thing started to make sense. Scaling was no longer a nightmare. AI stopped being just a tool for me – it became a partner.

Processes ran more smoothly, data was analysed faster, and marketing? Suddenly it was more precise than ever. As though I had another team member who never sleeps.

The secret of scaling with AI

Plenty of people still imagine AI is only for geeks with million-crown budgets. Nonsense. The truth lies elsewhere – it is a matter of mindset. A willingness to look for shortcuts, no fear of trying new things, and above all not giving up after the first setback.

„I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that will not work.“ — Thomas Alva Edison

That line rang in my head with every failure. And there were plenty of them.

Tips for scaling with AI:

  1. Data is the fuel – without it AI will work no miracles.
  2. Automate whatever you can – you will win back time and energy.
  3. Do not be afraid to test – even a mistake moves you forward.
  4. Keep an eye on the budget – AI does not have to cost a fortune.

Conclusion

AI is not a magic wand. But if you are not afraid of a challenge, it can become your strongest ally. All it takes is the courage to start something new and to accept that you will fall a few times before you fly.

So – switch off your phone, switch on AI and get going.
